When Kenneth Kingston died， Linc started going through all his papers both personal and relating to business。 What he found was the evidence of paying his ex secretary to take care of and keep their child a secret。 When Linc can't find her he hires a PI。 What he finds horrifies him， apparently the girl had ended up in foster care when her grandmother died。 Neither her mother or his father did anything to prevent it。We met Aurora in Dare to Stay， she's staying with Braden Prescott's girlfriend Wi When Kenneth Kingston died， Linc started going through all his papers both personal and relating to business。 What he found was the evidence of paying his ex secretary to take care of and keep their child a secret。 When Linc can't find her he hires a PI。 What he finds horrifies him， apparently the girl had ended up in foster care when her grandmother died。 Neither her mother or his father did anything to prevent it。We met Aurora in Dare to Stay， she's staying with Braden Prescott's girlfriend Willow and works for Austin at Dare Nation。 It's her job there that enables Linc Kingston to find her。 Now Linc is heading to Florida to meet her and hopefully bring her home to New York。 His brothers Dash and Zander and his sister Chloe are in agreement that Aurora is entitled to an inheritance and they want her to be a part of their family。Jordan Greene is Linc's best friend and his personal assistant。 She grew up with the Kingston's but not as an equal。 Her mother was the Kingston's housekeeper and she was graciously allowed to play and do homework with the Kingston siblings。 She's always had feelings for Linc but her mother is forever reminding her she isn't in his class and any relationship other than business would only bring heartache。Linc relies on Jordan for many things in business， she's able to anticipate what he needs and spur of the moment plans are made and confirmed quickly and efficiently。 He's also more than a little in love with her， but has been afraid to take a chance and possibly lose her friendship。 Jordan's a bit surprised that he wants her to come with him on this trip to meet his half sister but really has no reason to say no。 Even though they shared a kiss when he showed up a tad drunk the night before。Once they hit Florida， Austin puts a temporary halt to Linc's plan to meet Aurora， he wants to prepare her for this meeting。 Linc grudgingly agrees to wait for his call。 In the meantime things heat up with him and Jordan and now he's afraid it might be a mistake。The meeting with Aurora goes well and she needs to process the information and get to know Linc better before making a decision to travel to NY。 There's also her pregnancy to consider when it comes to flying， so she has a week。 It's when Jordan joins them for breakfast the next day that she helps Linc understand a bit about how Aurora is acting。Of course once they return to NY， things change a bit but Jordan is conflicted and Linc decides he really wants a relationship with Jordan。Aurora is a sweetheart and everyone is helping her get adjusted not only to being in NY but also in planning for the baby。This is a delightful read， with laughter， tears， and a relationship that sizzles off the pages。I can't wait to read the next book in this series！ 。。。more

Rating: 3 stars What I Liked: I thought this was an easy， enjoyable read。 The story flows nicely and I think the pacing is good。I liked both main characters， Jordan and Linc， and I thought their relationship was quite sweet and had decent chemistry。 The sex scenes were well-written。 I particularly liked the idea of their friendship - （view spoiler）[There's a part halfway through where he gives this little speech about how she's his best friend and his 'person' which I thought was very cute。 （hid Rating: 3 stars What I Liked: I thought this was an easy， enjoyable read。 The story flows nicely and I think the pacing is good。I liked both main characters， Jordan and Linc， and I thought their relationship was quite sweet and had decent chemistry。 The sex scenes were well-written。 I particularly liked the idea of their friendship - （view spoiler）[There's a part halfway through where he gives this little speech about how she's his best friend and his 'person' which I thought was very cute。 （hide spoiler）]What I Didn’t: I found the writing a little bland - it’s not bad writing at all， but it’s very literal and there are a couple of occasions where things are explicitly stated where they could have been left up to the imagination。 It’s also quite detailed - there’s a lot of describing people getting changed and getting a snack and stuff。I thought the ending was a bit much （view spoiler）[it wasn’t rushed in terms of pacing， but it was rushed in terms of their relationship - I didn’t really like the fact they were immediately getting engaged when they’d just said they loved each other， best friends or not。 （hide spoiler）]Overall: It was a nice book and I’m interested in the idea of the rest of the series， so I’d probably look out for them。Would I Recommend It？: Yes， if you’re looking for an easy to read and slightly angsty friends-to-lovers， boss/employee romance。 Would I Read Something By The Author Again？: Yes。Content Warnings: （view spoiler）[Sexual assault （in past， hero is intoxicated when his friend’s girlfriend assaults him， he only comes to see it as an assault in the course of the story when talking to the heroine）， miscarriage， accidental pregnancy， descriptions of poverty。 （hide spoiler）] 。。。more

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book （given by the author）。。。Spin-Off series from Dare Nation series。We meet Linc Kingston and Jordan Greene when Linc’s finds his long lost half-sister， Aurora。 This book picks up in the middle/end of Dare to Stay， but in Linc and Jordan’s POV。Lunch and Jordan have been best friends since they were kids although their “stations” in life were completely opposite， Linc’s family employed Jordan’s mom as their housekeeper。 However， “stations” were never importa I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book （given by the author）。。。Spin-Off series from Dare Nation series。We meet Linc Kingston and Jordan Greene when Linc’s finds his long lost half-sister， Aurora。 This book picks up in the middle/end of Dare to Stay， but in Linc and Jordan’s POV。Lunch and Jordan have been best friends since they were kids although their “stations” in life were completely opposite， Linc’s family employed Jordan’s mom as their housekeeper。 However， “stations” were never important Linc and Jordan and remained friends and now they work together。I really liked the connection between Jordan and Linc especially when it changed into something more romantic。 I was a bit disappointed that Linc basically said they couldn’t be more after their night together; then he gave me whip flash when he went from no we shouldn’t do it again to what do I have to do to get her in a relationship with me？ It was hilarious and sweet， but Jordan was not easily won over and Linc definitely had it work cut out for him。Their bond was so strong， unfortunately， so was the trauma from their past which created some big obstacles for our couple。 Not to mention Kenneth Kingston， Linc’s deceased father， created some big issues for the family with his last few business deals which brings Linc’s past drama to his present in the form of his old friend， Beck。I enjoyed how Linc loved his Jordan even though he did have a not so great moment， but he got it together in the end。I look forward to Just One Scandal which features Chloe， Linc’s sister， and Breck ;）We get cameos from Willow and Braden。 。。。more

Classic Carly Phillips5 starsI do so love Carly Phillips。 She and her writing are a shot of happy， sexy romance that always hits the spot。This book is the first in a new series following the Kingston Family。 The family got name-checked in a previous book （Dare To Stay） and there is one cross-over character， but the book 100% stands alone。 So if you’re new to Carly Phillips - you can definitely start with this book。Two of my favourite tropes are mashed together in this story - best friends to Classic Carly Phillips5 starsI do so love Carly Phillips。 She and her writing are a shot of happy， sexy romance that always hits the spot。This book is the first in a new series following the Kingston Family。 The family got name-checked in a previous book （Dare To Stay） and there is one cross-over character， but the book 100% stands alone。 So if you’re new to Carly Phillips - you can definitely start with this book。Two of my favourite tropes are mashed together in this story - best friends to lovers and workplace romance。 Although， it’s probably more of the first。 And Linc and Jordan are definitely best friends。 They make a cute pairing as friends and I love how easy and familiar their relationship is。 Having said that， the move into lovers seemed effortless and it was nice to find friends who take that step and then can suck it up after the fact， not wanting to lose the other by making a big deal of their time together。 Even if we can easily see the pair are smitten with each other。Jordan was a great character - a classic Phillips’ heroine。 She’s smart， driven， sassy， sexy and fun。 Yet she has very relatable issues and problems that make you love and root for her。 While a large part of her reluctance to make her relationship with Linc something more is their difference in class - it was never overdone and neither Jordan nor the story created drama purely for the sake of drama。Linc， too， was a great character。 He was strong， alpha and a bit of a hot head。 I don’t mind that in a character。 I also didn’t mind that he was something of a grump。 In fact， it made me love him more！ But despite my love of all things grumpy - I especially loved the fact that Jordan could calm Linc down when he was upset， angry and etc。 It was like they each balanced the other out and I adore that in any couple。As always with Carly Phillips， she brings enough heat to burn down a forest。 She definitely gave me those wonderful， shiver-inducing butterflies in the stomach feelings whenever our characters got it on。 Or even with just an innocent touch or a charged look。 She’s the queen of the sizzle， after all。I really enjoyed this story and I just flew through the story。 With that said， I got extra giddy in the epilogue when the couple in the next book in the series are revealed。 About half way through this book I totally called it and I cannot wait to read that story next。 Carly Phillips is onto another winner with this series and I’m already in love with the Kingston Family as a whole。 5 stars from me！* I received this book in exchange for my honest review。* 。。。more
